Dr Paulina Niechciał uczestniczyła w konferencji poświęconej zaratusztrianizmowi – starożytnej irańskiej religi, ktorej wyznawcy mieszkają dziś przede wszystkim w Iranie, Indiach oraz Ameryce Północnej, to znaczy Stanach Zjednoczonych oraz Kanadzie. Doroczna konferencja badaczy zaratusztrianizmu odbyła się 3 września na obrzeżach Chicago “Zoroastrian History: Pre-Achaemenian Times to the Present Day” , zorganizaowana przez lokalną społeczność zaratusztriańską (Zoroastrian Association of Metropolitam Chicago), przy współpracy z dwiema ważnymi międzynarodowymi zaratusztriańskimi organizacjami: Federation of Zoroastrian Associations of North America (FEZANA) oraz World Zoroastrian Association (WZO). Celem konferencji jest promowanie studiów nad zaratusztrianizmem i budowanie platformy współpracy między naukowcami, teologami, praktykami i członkami społeczności zaratusztriańskiej. W tym roku uczestnicy konferencji mieli też okazję obejrzeć wystawę „Persepolis: Images of an Empire”, która została udostępniona zwiedzającym w Instytucie Orientalistyki Uniwersytetu Chicago dzięki między innymi wsparciu zaratusztriańskich organizacji.

Dr Niechciał pasjonuje się społecznościami zaratusztriańskimi od lat, wydała książkę Mniejszość zaratusztriańska we współczesnym Teheranie. O tożsamości zbiorowej w kontekście dominacji szyickiej, Nomos, Kraków 2013 poświęconą mniejszości zaraztusztriańskiej w Teheranie, jest także autorką artykułow na ten temat. Podczas wizyty w Chicago miała okazję opowiedzieć o swoich zainteresowaniach, poznać wiele interesujących osób, a także obserwować zaratsztriańskie rytuały modlitewne. 

Dr. Paulina Niechciał participated in a conference on Zoroastrianism – an ancient Iranian religion, whose followers live today primarily in Iran, India and North America, that is the United States and Canada. The annual conference of the Society of Scholars of Zoroastrianism (SSZ) was held on the 3^rd of September outside of Chicago, organized by the local Zoroastrian community (Zoroastrian Association of Metropolitan of Chicago), supported by two international Zoroastrian associations: Federation of Zoroastrian Associations of North America (FEZANA) and the World Zoroastrian Association (WZO). The aim of the conference is to promote the study of Zoroastrianism and build a platform for cooperation among scientists, theologians, practitioners and members of the Zoroastrian community. This year, participants had an opportunity to see the exhibition “Persepolis: Images of an Empire”, which is available to visitors at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the University of Chicago due to the support of Zoroastrian organizations.

Dr. Niechciał has been interested in Zoroastrian communities for years, she published a book focused on a Zoroastrian minority in Tehran and academic articles on the subject. During her visit in Chicago she had an opportunity to talk about her interests, to meet many interesting people, and also to observe the Zoroastrian prayer rituals.
