"Introduction to the Anthropology of Contemporary East and Southeast Asia" - nowy kurs w KPSC

W ofercie Katedry Porównawczych Studiów Cywilizacji w roku akademickim 2023/24 pojawi się nowy kurs fakultatywny pt. "Introduction to the Anthropology of Contemporary East and Southeast Asia"

Z radością informujemy, że w ofercie kursów fakultatywnych na rok akademicki 2023/24 pojawi się nowy kurs, który prowadzony będzie przez dra Tobiasza Targosza.

This course employs a mix of learning materials, lectures, discussions and assignments. The lectures will offer students an opportunity to participate in the discussions of reading materials and related topics and ask questions. Disagreeing and respectful debates are encouraged during the class. However, I reserve the right to remove students from the lecture if they are disruptive, abusive, or disrespectful of others. The course is designed as an introduction to the problems of anthropological research in the East and South-East Asia region from the end of colonial period up to modern times. For students interested in the region, this course is an introduction to the culture of the region as well as to the output of ethnographic research in East and Southeast Asia. The aim of the course is to present different aspects of the history, society and culture of East and Southeast Asia. Through the use of different sources to study the history of both scientific studies, as well as local history, oral history, autobiography and film. The course will focus on different experiences of history by individuals in different periods and places. We will consider different levels of identities that are being constructed in this vast region including through the lens of the most recent geopolitical developments. The themes of politics of names, identity, tradition and modernity, as well as sovereignty over self, culture and statehood will cut across a broad range of topics.
