The present tome contains a selection of classical Japanese poems by Matsuo Bashō (1644–1694), Yosa Buson (1716–1784), Kobayashi Issa (1763–1828) and Masaoka Shiki (1867–1902) with the latter recognized as one of the greatest haiku masters. These were translated by Beata Szymańska – an accomplished poetess and philosophy professor affiliated with the Jagiellonian University in Cracow - and Anna Kuchta.
