8th Karmapa Mikyo Dorje, The Torch of Madhyamika Shentong, [VIII Karmapa Mikjo Dordźe, Pochodnia madhjamiki szentong], tr. A. Przybysławski, Iskry, Warszawa 2012.
The source of freedom, happiness, fearlessness, compassion and perfect cognition is a timeless characteristic of Buddha inherent in every being endowed with a mind. Even though it is called empty (since it is devoid of ignorance) it is also a primordial richness of an all-pervading consciousness. It is thus emptiness endowed with an abundance of perfect qualities as it is called in old Tibetan texts. One of them is The Torch of Madhyamika Shentong from the 16th century. This text, translated here for the first time into a European language, is one of the deepest treatises on the nature of the mind based on the tremendous meditation experience of the 8th Karmapa Mikyo Dorje who was one of the greatest philosophers and meditation masters in the Land of Snow. In its concise form it covers a vast area of the most crucial issues of Buddhist philosophy; in its profundity it is material for life-long studies.
