Competition: [H.1.12.2020] MiniGRANTS POB Heritage
Principal Investigator: Dr Wojciech Kosior
Project Duration: 2021 - 2023
Project Website: https://elyonimvetachtonim.project.uj.edu.pl/databases/hebrew-bible
The main goal of the project is to construct an electronic inventory of supernatural entities using a data collection, classification, and description system developed within the parent project Elyonim veTachtonim (https://elyonimvetachtonim.project.uj.edu.pl/), previously used to analyze the Babylonian Talmud tradition. The constructed database will serve as a thematic concordance (encompassing categories such as the class and type of supernatural being, the literary genre in which this being appears, or the sphere of human life to which the passage refers), and it will enable various data calculations and modeling.
The result of the project will be the world's first and so far the only tool of this kind, accessible to all interested parties, including researchers and individuals operating outside academic structures, without the need for any fees or the requirement of having specialized equipment or software. The project emerges at the intersection of various disciplines and sub-disciplines of the humanities and social sciences and expands the boundaries of the humanities through the use of digital methods and innovative solutions drawn from the field of software development (open source, forking, database iterativity, etc.).
