Alternative Worlds - Students and Experts Conference

The conference Alternative Worlds took place between January 10th and 11th 2015 in the Centre for Comparative Studies of Civilizations at the Jagiellonian University. Its purpose was to present various approaches and ways of interpretation of virtual universes; a concept that has accompanied human activity since ancient times and is still present in world's religions, quantum mechanics, popular culture, science, art and literature. The conference was attended by 86 speakers of various disciplines – including cultural studies, psychology, philosophy, religious studies, history or physics –thus enabling the participants to familiarize with broad spectrum of standpoints on alternative worlds and providing interdisciplinary perspective.
