Toys – Only for Kids? Games and Toys in the Cultures of the World

Toys – Only for Kids? Games and Toys in the Cultures of the World

17th-18th November 2012, Main Square 34, room no 33

Our purpose was to pose a question about the meaning of toys and games in the broadest meaning of this word and, hopefully, to propose some preliminary answers. We presented the motif of toys from the broadest and most interdisciplinary perspective as possible involving culture studies, philosophy and psychology. Toys are by no means just an object, but – like to playing and games – has a culturally significant role. The conference was supplemented by a games workshop providing entertainment from various parts of the world.

The organisers: Students Research Groups of the Comparative Studies of Civilisations, Polish philology, Inter-faculty Individual Studies in the Humanities and Preservation of the Cultural Heritage.

Conference Coordinator: Anna Kuchta
