Dr Agnieszka Kowalska

Agnieszka Kowalska received her M.A. degree in Ethnology and completed her Ph.D. in Sociology (Jagiellonian University in Krakow, 2000, 2009). Her master's thesis entitled Europe as a Civilisation. Comparative Perspective in Theory of Civilisation examined the concepts of civilisation introduced by Spengler, Toynbee, Braudel, Koneczny and Huntington. The dissertation entitled The Birth and Development of Early Christian Monasticism in the 4th Century Egypt. A Sociological Analysis dealt with the Weberian concepts of charisma and routinisation of charisma in relation to anachoretic and cenobitic forms of monasticism. Since 2013 she has been a member of The Polish Journal of the Arts and Culture Editorial Board.
